Android app - Torque

I have a bluetooth OBD2 device on order and am going to download Torque for Android.

app: http://torque-bhp.com
OBD2 converter: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...K%3AMEWNX%3AIT
Looks pretty cool.

seems pretty cool. i have something similar for my laptop. connects to the OBD2 reader in the car, and you can see all the specs. full wireless using blue tooth, but it is def nicer to have the app on your phone. i never really use it much since the car's sensors are all delayed alittle. but a very fun tool to play with, and very helpful. and it cost less then a real OBD code reader, and work better. haha.

good find

Looking at the website for the app, I hope it works on early OBD2 cars.
I'm kinda curious to see the data logging at the track.
My track timer is eventually going to use bluetooth data from the OBD2.

How did this work out? I am looking at getting set up. Read mixed reviews on the ebay tool accuracy.

I bought this bluetooth scan tool,

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o01_s00_i00

and use the free version of torque and it works great. It reads and clears codes and you can monitor some stuff like coolant temp, intake air temp, timing, etc. Refresh rate is pretty slow but I think that is on the OBDII side and not the bluetooth.

Great, thanks. Taking a look. Happily stumbled onto this app this morning.

My Chinese one is working just fine.
I think I have the one above.
I thought it crapped out but discovered I had bent a pin.
Bent it back. No issues.

Too bad it doesn't monitor oil though.

oh i got mine to spent 30 bucks and 5for the app and loving it. Use it with my htc evo design 4g and make sure you download this pluggin. this lets you record video while you driving and the speed and any other sensor you put on the screen. Here is a youtube video of some one using it.

That's a great app. I use it to clean the cel.

brandonm 07-16-2012 06:29 AM

i hvae this and use it on my 2000 323i fun little tool to use, measures 0-60s, clear check engine light codes, but it is a bit laggy but that because its very inexpensive

mreroc 07-16-2012 10:40 PM

Has anyone tried the Kiwi Bluethooth one that could speak to the lag. Is the consensus the lag is on the side of the OBDII and not the bluetooth tool?

When you guys use Torque, what coolant temps do you see when the needle is in the middle of the gauge?

mreroc 07-24-2012 05:25 PM

Hey, I was literally thinking that this morning and wanting to post. I installed it last Friday and have been showing 208.4 F, with a fluctuation to 210 F now and then. How about you?

mreroc 07-24-2012 05:27 PM

To add, my needle since I got the car last summer rests just to the right of the middle. This always worried me, but I've seen some other posts saying the same thing. So middle might be a couple degrees less.

spidertri 07-24-2012 06:12 PM

Yeah, mine is usually around 208-210F. I've seen it go up to 215F when idling in traffic but not higher, I guess that's when the fan kicks on.
