Interesting OEM pseudo M3 front bumper

Never knew this existed. An OEM kinda e36 M3ish front bumper. For a daily driven ti, it would be a great choice. May be one of the most unique bumpers for the e36 as I have never seen one. If I did not get my DDM bumper, I'd be all over this. $200 is totally reasonable for an OEM part.

Hmmmm ... very interesting! For lowered cars, this could well be better. Too bad it doesn't accept the M3 lip. Shipping to my zip is also nearly $100 (ugh!).

I ran the PN on getbmwparts.com... Wow, slight price difference! I like it and it's even cheaper than the M3 knockoff from DDM...

Yeah, that is the aero bumper. ECS has it for ~$100.

getBMWparts.com has it for $75.

From what I gather, it is a skin that goes over the lower half of the stock bumper.

cali-ti 08-27-2010 06:30 PM

Hmmmm ... if it's just a skin that goes over your existing, I don't think I'd be interested, but if it's a full replacement, I would. Wonder how we could find out for sure ...

spidertri 08-27-2010 07:59 PM

I think a call to Turner would be the only way, I doubt any BMW dealers will have it in stock.

tiFreak 08-27-2010 11:43 PM

it's definitely a skin, if you can find a better picture you can barely see the seams where it mounts

cali-ti 08-30-2010 10:22 PM

Soooo ... I emailed Turner Motorsports about it. Below are the question asked and the response received:

Question:

I'm wondering if the item below is a full replacement bumper or if it
is a skin that goes over your existing bumper. Could you please let me
know when you get a moment?

if you look at the pic in the slideshow at ecs tuning, you can tell it's just the lower half.

Interesting. Maybe the guy at Turner hasn't seen one before :) The ECS pics certainly make it clear (I should have followed the link from your earlier post). Not sure I want something like that (although I believe it would cover up my 11" crack :D ).

familytruckster 08-30-2010 11:53 PM

It definately looks like almost a whole bumper-compared to just a lip.

That wasn't me, that was spider that posted the ecs link.

I'd be tempted to buy it too. I like the ground clearance, and the M3 bumper. I like ground clearance better.

familytruckster 12-16-2010 03:51 AM

ECS has it for 49.95 now!

zoner 12-16-2010 04:16 AM

Even at that price, the shipping still makes it kind of cost prohibitive (at least for me in So. Cal.)

Sub Total: $49.95
Shipping: $97.69
Total: $147.64

I realize that it's an OEM piece, but I can pick up M3 replica bumpers all day around here for $120. The ground clearance is tempting, however... I see a lot of lowered M3's with banged up lips. :frown:

BMW_Hatchback 12-16-2010 07:35 AM

just look at the inside of it. If this were a full bumper, where should it mount to the shock absorbers, and the metal bar? I'm sure its just a cover. neat find though

spidertri 01-05-2011 12:31 AM

ECS now has this valence on sale for $19.95.
