Raising ride height http://i.imgur.com/sdVktj7.jpg This is the current ride height of my 332. I bought it this way, not something I did. Currently it has Bilsteins up front and Konis in the rear with Ibach springs. I can get the part numbers if it may help. What I'm looking for is a way to get a bit more ride height. This thing handles great and I love the stiffer springs, but using it as a DD is tough. My apartment complex has 14(!) speedbumps in 1/4 mile. I'd love to find a little bit more ride height while maintaining my ride quality. Is this possible? Even a "little" softer wouldn't kill me. Comfort in a DD is a good thing too. |
Threaded spacers can be bought that go under the springs. Sort of a poor mans coil-over... H&R USed to sell them. They give a minimum of about 3/4 inch height increase up to about 2"/ Dave |
Those work front and rear? From center of rim to fender I'm sitting at 13" front and 12" rear. I'd love to bump up 1" front and rear. That would be killer. Would this be a compact specific part? |
I've found the adjustable sorting seats from Ireland Engineering, and they are just a little over 100$. Over on bimmerforums I was suggested thicker spring pads for the rear. Not adjustable but the simplicity and price aft very tempting. I'd there any major downside to doing it this way? Also, what about the front? |

Anyone have a part number for thicker rear spring pads? Current rear set up is Koni's and vogtland and the drop is too low for me. Thanks |
I've never found part numbers but I've just googled spring pads for either z3 or ti and I've found many thicknesses from 5mm to 15mm. The general consensus is that the ratio of pad thickness to height is 1:1.7 where an inch of pad gives you 1.7 inches of raise. |
