That was going to be my plan. Good to know it's going to work. Good job so far, keep it up. |
Thanks man, I hope this helps the clunking issue I'm having. Anyone know the torque values for the cover bolts and bushing bolt? |
Cover bolts are 45N-m or 33lb-ft Bolt thru the bushing is 127N-m or 94lb-ft this is from the TIS |
Awesome, thanks so much. All my cover bolts broke free pretty easily, the bushing bolt isn't coming free yet. I've hit it pretty good with penetrating lubricant and I'm going to let it sit for a while. |
nice... I didnt think of that. Quote:

2 Attachment(s) Well I got everything done yesterday. The nut on the bushing bolt was the biggest PITA I have ever come across. The use of extensions and a huge breaker bar were necessary as well as my dad using some insane force to break it free. After that, everything went really smoothly. The old bushing was pulling away in three places and just looked worn out. I was very impressed by how clean the old cover was on the inside, Royal purple is fantastic stuff. Filled it back up with another 1.2 qts and was on my way. I have put about 50 miles on it so far, I can definitely say that the loud rear end clunk I had when letting off the gas is gone. I'm sure that with a new guibo and motor mounts the whole drivetrain will feel tight. |
Good to hear. I have the same rear end noise going on now. I'm gearing up to do the subframe bushings and trailing arms. Looks like I'll need to add this bushing to the mix. Great work.. |
My mount looks just like yours and I'm having really bad vibration in the rear. Where did you buy the mount at? |
Wow, when I bought the bushing a few years ago it was only $40, now it's up to $170. That really stinks because that M bushing was considered the best upgrade. Urethane is not usually recommended there because it might speed up the trunk floor tearing issue that these cars can have. The stock ti bushing is still $40. Maybe you could find a solid rubber E30 bushing, I don't know if they even sell those anymore. |

I'm not a fan of the royal purple anymore. You can get Mobil 1 75w-90 from most auto parts stores, that will be less expensive and be a better oil. |

It'll be fine for a non-LSD. |
