My new 318ti you won't all believe...

Hello all, I was a lurker here for a while and wanted to pick up a ti because of gas prices and other factors. I drive a 2006 330i Sport and previously had an 2003 M3, so I love BMWs and wanted something different. Looked around for a ti and wasn't seeing much. For thehell of it I looked on the Cable channel here that sells cars and I saw a 1997 318ti with 24,000 miles for $6000. I thought it was a typo, the mileage, but I called anyway. when I went to see it, I was simply amazed. The car had in fact been garaged for many years due to a divorce battle and wasn't driven much because of the man's new wife not being able to drive stick. It was NOT a typo in fact there were exactly 22,800 miles on the odometer. I did not even haggle I simply said YES! Well I just registered it and am now driving around it in and loving it. I feel like I got the deal of the century and am totally happy. I am looking around to see which model exactly, only reason I am unsure is that I thought I had a base, but I have power windows/mirrors and CD changer and ASC. I don't think I have the second model up, but I am still looking around here and will post my VIN eventually. For now I am off to take some pictures to show you guys, but let me tell you, the car looks in better shape than my 330i. I like this car so much that if after a month or so if there aren't any real problems, which I don't foresee, I may sell the 330i and go through life without a car payment for a while. We will see and I will update this post with pictures later on.

do you have a little 2-button OBC next to the headunit or just a clock? if it's an OBC, you have an active, if it's a clock, you have a base, welcome to the forum, that mileage is crazy low

Here are a few quick ones I too at a mansion near me. Sun was setting and some of them were too dark, but I think you can get the idea. I will take some better ones at another time, but I know some of you would want to see these. I believe it is a base, I have the clock. I thought it would be the one above the base, but not too sure. I have all the documentation from the original owner. He bought it a few weeks old with 800 miles on it and has babied it ever since. I took pictures of the doors where the paint is fading and peeling, but it seems this is common. Any other suggestions etc would be great all Enjoy.

Oh yeah, I see the genuine walnut wood shifter in there! I got one too. That's one heck of a find! Welcome to the org neighbor. I'm in Orange County, but I'm always at Englewood, NJ when I hang out and Bronx is right across the river.

I thought this for myself there for a minute, but I took the chance. I mean the ones that have over 100,000 miles were the same price. He had no idea how to ell THIS car. He was driving around with a for sale sign asking $11,000 for a few months and got no calls. He told me he might go on this site called Craigslist and asked if I ever heard of it :) I think I am the luckiest man right now :)

Cool, I actually got it in Bayonne, NJ. Very cool guy who adored this car, but his wife and kids did not want it. Weirdos!!

That's some brilliant luck man, congrats.

Something to do, if there are any BMW dealerships around you that aren't high volume joints, I'd take it in, be really nice, and ask them to run the VIN and print out the build sheet for it. They should be able to tell you the model, all of the packages, options, colors, etc., and you can get the radio code as well while you're at it (so that the first time you have to unhook the battery you don't have to go in to get the radio working again).

Again, awesome, and welcome!
