M44 block and M42 head will it work?

Actaully I am thinking of

M44 block and a P&P M42 head.

would it work?

not for a daily, but for a track purpose car. I have some other ideas as to internals as well from the S42 thread on BF.com

but I have a M44 with 140km on it sitting in the garage and figured I try something. Might put this in a 95 Ti or 91 318is which ever I find first.

i dont no but try it

It will work..on bf.c a guy named gizmo did that plus a different crankshaft, pistons, etc. He made a 2.1 liter motor. It put down 168rwhp and almost a mile high.

EDIT: reread original post obviously you are talking about the same thing. He used M42 head and M44 block. If you get the M47N crankshaft let me know where you got it...I am wanting one too.

wonder what that would do with a DASC on it. anybody know if that's been done?

what's the advantage to using m42 pieces over m44 pieces? are they pretty much interchangeable? could you still use the m44 sensors with the m42 head to retain OBDII functionality (mostly for purposes of the DASC Stage III kit)?

well the m44 has oil squirters for the pistons.

the M42 has the better internals

I'd rather have ODB 1 over ODB II

Well, in general the M42 is a stronger engine due to its forged componenets, the head flows better, more counter weights on the crankshaft. The use of the M44 block is just to get a larger displacement to start with.

M42 also has oil squirters, but they are in a different location...from the bf.c thread

well, if one was going to bore it out anyway, one would be replacing the internals regardless, right? and if i'm planning on the DASC, i remember reading that they couldn't do all the tweaks (stage III, etc) to the DASC for the m42 that they could on the OBD m44. would this necessitate the use of the m44 block and head? sorry, i have about zero knowledge on this stuff :(
