E36 M3 calipers fit ti?
 

Ive found some E36 m3 front calipers for next to nothing in a scrap yard where I live. What I need to know is if they will fit my stock 1998 sport stub axels (ie are they a bolt on replacement?) I have vented brakes as standard. Searched the forum and found no reference to them. The axels on the M3 are toast so I cant use them. Any clues would be great. Cheers Matty

I forgot to mention I have 17's on so clearance shouldn't be an issue.

No. M3 hubs are different then E36 non-m3 hubs.

To use E36 M3 front brake rotors you need M3 hubs/axles.

Rears youd need mcoupe/roadster trailing arms and hub assemblies.

BLUEBIMMER, did you notice much difference with the M3 setup?

I hadnt driven the car in about 10 months prior to the install plus i installed the m50 engine, so i cant really comment on the before and after, but i can definately say that it stops the car quite nicely from 80-0 and you cant feel the weight from the and extra weight of the engine. Brake pedal feel is great as well.

You won't really notice a difference in daily street driving. The improvements come about through better cooling because of the vented rotors.

Your tires are really the limiting factors in braking. At some point your tires will lock up. Your tires will lock up at the same point with a BBK, stock Ti brakes, or M3 brakes.

You may notice some differences in pedal modulation, but I wouldn't expect to much of a difference if you are staying with a sliding caliper. Aftermarket fixed calipers give a much better and more consistent feel because the caliper design is better. Which is again probably something that most drivers would not notice in normal street driving.

Actually, the problem is that the spindles are different even though the bearings are exactly the same. On the M3 spindles, the two caliper pick-up points are more inward by about 7mm (less than 1/4"). Also, the radius on which the mounting holes are located on radius 2mm bigger for the regular e36.

And yes, M3 spindles must be used.

Bearings are the same across this line up of cars.
