M42 transform to M44 I realised that the M44 is much bether than M42. Than i would like know if i can replace the body intake system, ECU, Air flow, eletric fuel injection to M42 from M44? What itens that i need replace (if it is possible) to make my M42 like the M44? Somebody already did it? |

Just buy a chip for the DME, youll save A LOT of money. |
In my opinion, the only thing better about the M44 is that it uses a MAF on the intake. The M42 uses a AFM which is more restrictive as the air on the intake stream needs to open a door in the AFM. In all other respects the M42 is a better engine. Do a search for AFM to MAF conversion here and on bimmerforums. I have looked into this and have not been satisfied with the results. If you just want more power, go the chip route as Bluebimma suggested. The stock M42chip is not very well tuned so you can get 20hp from a good chip. |
