I'm looking for a California top motor or gear replacements please help daughter is driving me crazy

Gears

Sometimes if you disassemble the motor & gears, you can flip the plastic gear over and get it to run for a while longer.

At the same time, clean and lube everything because once it strips the gear again, it is said to be a $700 - $800 motor assembly from BMW...

Good Luck

Did you check eBay? I found the motor for the ti sunroof there. I had to rebuild it with parts from the old one, but it worked fine. Since I'm a girl, it's not really that hard.

You were able to do it with your girl brain? wowee.

I failed at a rebuild, but mostly blame it on overly stripped plastic gears, even though I flipped them. Been a year and don't remember, but can the top gear 1/2 be moved to the bottom, thus giving a good, bad, good, bad pattern rather than a good, bad, bad, good pattern? Found my replacement motor laying in the pan of a junkyard Cali and thought it was a side window motor and swapped the gears into my bad motor. Was going to post the side window motor parts # here as a gear source but when I looked the number up discovered I had disassembled a perfectly fine sunroof motor!
