yes thats mud, I tried to take pics of the rest of the body, but I guess helrot is a good color for hiding dirt.

I assure you that the rest of my car is filthy.

Thats what Jeeps are for. I'd never treat my car like that.

Even though I am a huge rally racing fan, I'm with Jess on this one.

I absolutely LIVE for rally racing, but I understand that those cars are specifically built for those conditions while our cars are built for paved roads.

I'm pretty sure the ti is more "dangerous" off road than a purpose built off road jeep.

I can guarantee you that these things are designed to handle a little off road.
Those specially designed rally cars are designed to preform like race cars on dirt.
I do not drive it like a race car on pavement or dirt. Just because you CANT bring your ti out onto the mud pools, please do not assume that I trash mine when I bring it out.

What harm is a little mud?

As for the jeep being dangerous, I can do maneuvers in this little car that would roll a jeep in an instant.

The biggest danger I was in was that of getting stuck in a deeper spot.
That was no problem cause there was a 325is and a guy with a little desert rat toyota with a winch on it out there doing the same crap as I was.
(doughnuts in the big mud puddles)

i live 30min from ocotillo wells, bout 2hours to glamis, ive been in a rolled jeep before.
I also have been in V10 trophy trucks that put jeeps to shame.

I have been driving on dirt with a variety of vehicles since I was in 8th grade. I learned to drive on dirt LONG before I ever even had a car or a drivers license.

Its not like I am claiming to be able to beat a jeep in a race, or even try to get close to the terrain that one can handle, I am still sticking to my story that they are dangerous, and slow.
I know the limits of my car, and I dont push them.
Please tell me how having a little fun in some soft mud, or even driving down a dirt road is going to turn my car into a pile of sh!t.
I dont know if you have ever been to Germany, but there are plenty of rural areas, and you seem to overlook the fact that there are lots of people on this earth who MUST drive a dirt/muddy road every day.

While it's true that a little mud won't hurt, there is a reason that I own a 4-Runner as well as the cars... Now it won't win a race or a beauty contest, but it serves it's purpose well.

Like a couple of years back, when, due to rain and flooding, I was the only person to get to work out of 40ppl...

Lol, mud on your paint, in your bushings and the constant abuse on your ball joints, tie rods, shocks, struts and other components is definitely not good for your car. Besides that, the constant vibration from uneven and rutted dirt roads will certainly cause all of your interior pieces as well as your chassis to creak and rattle over time. Think about your brakes and exhaust, all of the rocks and crud getting thrown around under there.

BMW didn't design the 318ti with offroading intended as a normal practice. Look at your car and then look at everyone else's, I rest my case.

This is why I have a full size Dodge Ram w/ 3" lift for winter/rain/snow and when it's especially nice, the convertible Camaro comes out... The ti is for 'none of the above' or when I need a little better mileage than a V-8 can give me.
