door panel part number

i am currently looking for the door panel part numbers for my 6/98' 318ti sport. i was looking on realoem to see what the part number is, and all that i could find is that they feature 6+ different part numbers for the door panel, and im not sure how to choose which one i need. anybody have any ideas?

thanks,

I see a bunch of door panels with different upholstery colors and materials.

You should be able to read off the (German) upholstery color(s) and the material code for your car by keying in its VIN here.

Let us know how that goes!

Can I assume that
"Door trim panel, front right D7RT SW/ROT 1 51412277094 +core, ENDED"

means that i'm out of luck? :frown:

Seeing ENDED is not exactly encouraging.

In Europe, you can sometimes still get an ENDED part. My dealer's parts guy snagged a discontinued trim strip for me from across the border in Poland. If he hadn't, the warehouse in Dingolfing could only send an entire seat back. :frown:

I have no idea what can be done in the U.S., or whether someone would risk holding a specific and fairly expensive piece.

EDIT: I don't know what this suggests as possible, but my ENDED trim strip came from a regional BMW warehouse in Slubice, Poland.

the thing is my car was a car that had been at one point stripped of its sport interior, then had all of the interior replaced by the previous owner. i just need a basic black door panel, i plan on having the inserts recovered when i have my seats reupholstered.

Argh. I am apparently one of the vanishing few who bought their cars new, and assumed your car would still have its original interior.

Can you find any part numbers on the damaged panel, or if it's missing, one of its mates: to help identify the color? The one you want may not be ENDED.

Perhaps if you post some pictures of the matching panels, someone can identify the fabric and color. For reference:
  • SCHW = schwartz = black
  • ANTH = anthrazit = anthracite (a very dark grey)
  • GRAU = grau = grey
These were the original colors: both SCHW and ANTH will bleach over the years.

E28, did you used to live in NorCal and have a brother who was parting out a 318ic? I used to have an E28 and think we may have traded posts on BFC.

If you are going to reupholster the panels, I have a pair from a 95 sport ti in good structural shape except someone cut out the speakers and left a speaker sized square hole. You are welcome to them if they help out. They are clipless as I needed them for the replacement panels I ended up finding.

PM me if you are interested. Cheers!

you can only use 318ti door panels, sedan door panels are to short, and coupe door panels are too long.

cheers
