Why do you ask?

Just wondering I was talking to my vw buddys and they have the w8 and the w12.

Urban legend!

while technically possible to merge two engines, the custom crank would cost extreme dollars.

I've seen Fireblade motorcycle engines made into a V8. FWIW>.

On the E31 forum that I am on there is always a discussion about using 2 DOHC heads from an M50 motor to go onto a M70/S70 V12. Major complaints for the M/S 70 motors is head design and lack of DOHC.
I think someone has attempted it in Europe. Not sure if it ever was operable though. One head would have to be flipped so the exhaust would go outboard.

Plus 1. Use the Chevy motor and a TH350 or TH400 trans with 8"stall converter and trans brake. The trans brake will put the transmission in 1st and reverse at the same time locking the trans on the line. You then stomp the gas with a 8" stall and the RPM's go up to about 4,600. Watch your light and on pro tree as soon as you see yellow release the trans brake button and press the nitrous button on street tree drop the button as soon as you see the bottom yellow light on your tree. If you have good tires and a super strong driveline you should pull the wheels off the ground for at least 20 feet, as soon as the shift light comes on shift and hit your second stage of NOS, the 400hp one. This should get you the power you need without trying to graft motors together or other ways to make power that just plain suck...

Lol I wanted to know if anyone had done it before. I don't have the type of money to weld two motors together. And if I was putting an ls in any thing it would be an fc rx7

Nah rather have a 6 spd and go out and do some road course events or if you want to spend some extra cash S54 plus a 6 spd.

Generally the answer is yes, there have been many hybrid engines built over the years, none very successful.

Love the FC. Raced rotary Rx3 for a few years. Reliable and underpowered. :D
