Rear Hatch Removal
 
Hi All,

Can anyone point out the instructions on easiest way to remove the rear hatch ?

There's 4 t30 bolts on the 2 hinges when u lift it up

Although I haven't done it myself, I will say that the hatch is really heavy. You should have at least two or three people to support and lift it off of the car while someone unbolts it. Also, disconnect the electrical wiring and hatch strut clips PRIOR to removing the bolts. Be careful! Many people have removed the hatch struts, not expecting the hatch to be so heavy, allowed the hatch to slam shut and shattered the rear windscreen.

My rear hatch came down and the rear glass smashed when I pulled one of the struts.... Rear window: 600$

I have a related question:

On the 4 bolts at the hinge, are there any nuts or anything on the other side? My rear hatch is slightly crooked, I think all I need to do is loosen the 4 bolts and slightly adjust the positioning of it there.

Did you have any luck straighten/aligning your hatch? I've got the same issue.

I did have some luck! After finding an online workshop manual that details the process, I was able to straighten it a bit. It's still not perfect, but better.
