1997 318ti - $500 OBO (SOLD)

I'm new to the forum, but have used several of these threads to help diagnose a number of issues. But I'm moving out of state and won't be taking my 318 with me, so make an offer:smile:

1997 318ti Automatic, over 200K miles, located in the Cleveland, OH area

The good:
  • New radiator and associated hoses (3 years ago)
  • New valve cover gasket (3 years ago)
  • Bilstein shocks and OEM springs (5 years ago)
  • Refurbished water pump
  • Heat and A/C still work
  • New window regulators and headliner
  • Kosei K1 Racing wheels
The bad:
  • The car has sat outside for the past two years, and has lived most of its life in the midwest, so there is significant rust on the underside behind the front passenger wheel well. There is also rust starting above the rear passenger wheel.
  • There is a hole in the muffler. It passed Ohio E-Check two years ago and my registration is still current, but it has gotten progressively louder
  • Torque converter doesn't always lock on the highway. RPMs climb or drop by about 300 depending on acceleration. The secondary hood latch is also broken, so I don't drive it much on the highway anyway... So it hasn't gotten much mileage in the past two years.
  • The airbag light is on
  • The brake sensor light is on (When I replaced the brakes I broke the brake wear sensor and didn't buy a new one)
  • Steering wheel cover peeling off, driver seat foam coming out
I will update this post with exact mileage and pictures shortly. I'm still compiling the maintenance records. Given the condition, maybe someone would be interested in taking it off my hands just for the wheels? I figured I would post it here first, although it is still a whole car, someone might be interested in the components before I give it away.

Looks like a decent project for someone to do a swap into assuming the rust is manageable. GLWS. I want those wheels.

Thanks, yeah those wheels really did change the appearance of the car, they're lightweight and repaintable too

Price has been lowered to $500, only two weeks left before I move! Its also posted over on the Lemons forum if that gives anyone any ideas?

Below are links to walk around videos with the car running:

Also note the loud exhaust with the hole in the muffler. Driveability issues include the transmission problems noted above, and brake shimmy.

Unfortunately the front passenger side rust is worse than I remembered, here is a better view:

This should be adequately reflected in the price (and don't forget the wheels!)
