Radar detector use in California

For those of you who are using a radar detector in California, how are you mounting it, as technically in California you aren't supposed to attach anything to the windshield. You can get a ticket if you're stopped and have it attached to the windshield.

I have a under mirror mount coming in to be legal compliant, but wondering what else folks are doing?

Thanks!

I have the V1 attached to my rear view mirror with a custom homemade mount. It attached to the back of the arm of the rear view mirror. I've been stopped before and never had an issue with the police 🚨. I'll post a picture tomorrow.

Thanks Marv! Yes, I have an under mirror mount coming. What's interesting is in that position, it will actually block more of the important visual area of the windscreen than the position I have it in now.

I have the wiring and such for a permanent mount for a few of the cars.

I need to be reminded now and again where the radar cameras are located as those tickets are a bit pricy.

Cheers!

Here is SoCal, most of the red light laser camera are disabled or no longer functional, too many issues with getting the camera to come to court to identify and face the accused !!!!!

Don't know about any radar camera's in SoCal for just speed, AZ has them. My recent experience (Drove to Sonoma, Jackson (49 & 88) and then to Monterey) had radar hits from CHP, only when they were already "feeding" on a recipient of a "performance award" or as I call 'em, a Randomly Applied Road Use Tax

Cheers

PS> My V-1 is mounted to the windshield just above and left of the mirror, never had any issues with that, doesn't obscure my forward vision. My Garmin is suction cup mounted to the lower left corner of the windshield, and that is allowed in CA.
