FS: Conforti M42 chip - EWS2

One other thing - I have a Conforti chip for sale that works with eariler M42s with EWS 2. The build date on my car IIRC is 4/95 and its original owner's 318is' build date was 1/95; I don't know the dates for EWS 2 offhand myself, but you should be able to find out at a good mechanic or dealer if your car has that version of driveaway protection.

$150 - but please verify the version of driveaway protection on your car. If it doesn't match, your car may not start with this chip installed.

The original documentation indicated this chip was for 93 octane. On 91 on my car the computer would ping without some kind of octane boost.

i have a 95 318is build date 4/95, i'm assuming the chip would match up e-mail me to discuss

Hey Andy. I sent you a pm over at BFC. You still have this chip? I never saw were anybody said they bought it. 10/95 is my production date I'm pretty sure.

Here is the ECU to conforti chip # guide.

318i/is/Ti A E36 92-12/94 0-261-200-990 990-310 7000
M E36 92-12/94 0-261-203-282 282-300 7000
A E36 92-12/94 0-261-203-282 282-310 7000
M E36 1/95+ 0-261-203-282 282-400 7000
A E36 1/95+ 0-261-203-282 282-410 7000
M E36 1/95+ 0-261-203-357 357-300 7000
A E36 1/95+ 0-261-203-357 357-310 7000

I have a 0261 203 282 so 282-400 would be the number on the chip that I need.

Sold! Chip's on it's way to Florida.

Just for the board's sake, my computer is a 282, and I have been running the 300 chip (pn ends in 3000, which I assume is the same).

you guys have lower octane over there don't you?
In England its usualy 95 for standard - going up to 99 for super unleaded.
Just wrth mentioning n case anyone sees a chip over here and wants to import it - it won't be set up for US petrol.

mohaughn 11-19-2006 05:16 PM

Rhys- Same gas, different way of measuring octance.. You guys just use Ron. We use M+R/2 which is supposed to be more accurate... You usually just add 5-7 to our octane to get the comparable octane for Europe...

Chip is installed and working great.. Since Andy said this chip would knock on 91 at high temps you would probably need 98 or 99ron octane gas. I can get 93, 95, or 100 octane M+R/2. But it is running fine on 93.

The reason I don't think the numbers I posted match up exactly right is it looks like this chip was originally bought directly from Conforti and not re-labeled and sold through turner. I guess Turner uses different chip numbers..

Thanks, you learn something new every day. What sort fo figures does this chip give? I have a chip fitted to mine - it improved responsiveness, partly removed the flat spot and also improved the mpg a little.
