A/C refrigerant recharge.....recommedation? Quick summertime question: my A/C hasn't been cold for ages--the compressor turns on, blows air, etc. Not a big issue because of the Calr-roof and i'm really not into A/C, anyways. But, I was thinking of getting the a/c recharge compresser thing at kragen and 'purge' the system. It's called "EZ Auto Air Conditioner r134a refrigerant" any experience/advice with these sorts of products? thanks folks, B |
The recharge kits can work, however, if theres a leak in the system and the refrigerant is gone, there is probably air in it. A shop can put a vacuum on the system and put new refrigerant in with a leak dye. When it leaks out again they can see where it leaks, and replace the leaking part. I'm not really sure what it all costs, but I think to recharge and put leak dye in is like between 50-100 bucks. |
My A/C has been out over a year and want to get it fixed too. I'm assuming I have a leak because the last charge didn't last long. I have been doing some research, Castrol makes an R-134a recharge kit http://www.handsontools.com/store-pr...>_1316096.html and The Eastwood Company sells a leak finder kit with dyes for various automotive leak tracing http://www.eastwoodco.com/shopping/p...r+conditioning |
