Thoughts on 135 manual coupe

Curious if any members have also owned a 135 and have an opinion?

I am new to the forums.

I understand the 135 can have vanos, charge pipe, and hpfp issues.

I am located in Virginia if anyone is aware of 135s for sale.

I had one, fantastic car and regret getting rid of it. HPFP issues were flushed out in a recall (at least for me) and there was an extended warranty placed on those cars. Mine was fixed and ran perfectly. The dual turbo was known for wastegate issues. I replaced the charge pipe with an aluminum. Any additional boost might crack the pipe, mine did when I ran a mild tune. I had no real issues aside from the radio LCD needing repair. The angle of the dash would expose that to the sun, and would damage the screen. I did a self repair for about $20 or less. Removed the radio, got the correct parts and had a brand new screen.

The car came with runflats, I removed them and put on a pair of Michelin AS3 (I think that was the version at the time). Made a world of a difference. No more busted rims, ride was exquisite. Bimmerworld at the time sold spares and I had mine in the trunk. I would not pass up owning one again, even considered it as of recently. Again the only thing that sticks out in my mind is how the subframe has to come out to replace those turbos when the wastegate issue creeps up. And from what I know, eventually it will. They are direct injection, so it's best to clean them with a walnut blast, I want to say it was 75k but not sure. The info on that is definitely out there though.

I believe the dual turbo was the N54. Excellent performer and with maintenance (wastegates in mind) they will work phenomenal on a mild tune. Pulls.
