Aluminum door panels for the 318ti

Ordering is open until Tuesday Jan 24th after which I am not sure I will be making any more of these.

After looking for replacement door panels for the 318ti, I came up empty-handed so I decided I'd make my own.

I've spent a good amount of time making sure these are just right. Panels are made of 0.063 aluminium sheet which makes them quite sturdy. I am currently doing pre-orders at at a discounted price.

Features
Integrated pull-strap slot.
Material thickness resists vibration.
OEM door handle trim can be used.
Meets with door seal to further reduce vibration.
Uses as many original holes as possible.
Easy installation, hardware kit is available.
Electric windows may be retained.
Weight savings over OEM door panel.

Material
Water jet cut 0.063” Aluminum sheet

Color Options
Natural aluminum finish
Black anodized with silver edges

Fitment
E36 (1993-2000) 318ti, 323ti, 316i, 316g, 318tds

Dimensions
19” x 43”
4.3lb per panel (stock panel is 5.7lb not including speakers)

Pre-orders are open and will close on Jan 23rd.
All orders should ship by Feb 1st.
Pre-order pricing is discounted and will go up afterwards.
All prices are per pair of panels.

Pricing:
Standard panels: $135

I'd think the stock panels weigh under 5lbs. both. They are essentially cardboard.

I like these. good idea to build'em. Is there a pull on them, or what would you reccomend to close the door?

While there is not a pull included, the panels all have a 1" slot for a pull to be installed. I used a $2 set of straps that I found at Menards.

Forever? Why such a short window?

BlackBMWs 01-26-2017 07:37 AM

I picked up a set for my track car. Weight is close to the stock panels, but they won't catch fire.

Actually, the stock panels did shake the fasteners loose after one season. I got the anonized black set with fasteners. I'll post up once I get them installed.

Thanks Tomek!

These look awesome. I just had my drivers side panel repaired and now it doesn't fit well and have to slam the door just to close the door. And it won't stay clipped in on the top. Fail!

Do these panels still use the vapor barrier or just seal the perimeter when installing?

And more important, are you still making these?

I haven't installed them with the barrier, but I'm sure you can just keep it in place if you wish as the panel would just sandwich it against the door.

Unfortunately I've already sent out the order for the last batch and I am not sure when I will be doing another batch at the moment. It is always possible to make one set but the costs on that are quite high. If you'd like, please PM me your contact info and I will let you know when I am putting together anther batch.
