St. Louis BMW Club Track Event

Hi All:

Fellow track rat and MINI owner Mike Roberts forwarded me the note below from Peter Rossato (rossato@charter.net) of the St. Louis BMW club. They are hosting a track day at Gateway Raceway (www.gatewayraceway.com/) October 31st - November 2nd. It's been a good event in the past, particuarly for Novice drivers looking for more driver training. Hey one more weekend at the track....

They are looking for around 45 more people to sign up, makin git financially viable, so don't delay. Simply follow the links in Peter's e-mail below.

Happy Motoring!

The St. Louis BMW CCA Chapter is hosting its annual "Frost On The Pumpkin Driving School" at Gateway International Raceway in Madison IL this coming October 31st to November 2nd. Details on the school are posted on our web site: www.STLBMWCCA.org

Registration is on Motorsportreg.com at:

There are currently only 20 students registered for this event and we look for at least 45 more to reach our break even point. The club lost a substantial amount of money at the June event and can not afford to do so again. The financial climate has obviously changed and that leaves the club in serious jeopardy as we try to stage an event that cost upwards of $20,000.

We have contacted Gateway International to investigate our options for cancellation. As you can imagine, this is not something we want to do so before we take any action we need to determine if there is after all sufficient interest from those in our community in holding this event.

Because our Driving Schools have always had a good following in the past, many posptponed their registration knowing that they could do so up to the last minute. If the registration rate for STUDENTS doesn't increase dramatically in the next few days, WE ARE GOING TO BE FORCED TO CANCEL THE SCHOOL.

We understand fully that circumstances beyond anyone's control affect whether you can attend the school, however, if anyone has intentions of registering for this event, they should do so as quickly as they can. We also urge you to spread the word to your friends and colleagues who might be interested in trying this sport. Former participants are our best ambassadors and recruiters. We need you to encourage others to join and try this activity.

INSTRUCTORS: When I have sent these reminders out in the past, it is typically the instructors that respond first. You surely all appreciate that while we always need instructors, students are the reason for that need. I would therefore ask that BEFORE you sign up for the school, you first recruit 2 to 3 students to sign up. It is much easier to find and sign up instructors at the last minute than it is students.

To be fair to all parties involved the club needs to make a decision promptly. We are not establishing a firm deadline for registration other than what exists on the Motorsportreg.com registration page. But we need to see a sginificant increase in registrations shortly to have any confidence that we stand a chance of meeting our bills. I can not emphasize enough that if you delay registering, there may not be an event to sign up for.

Should we be forced to cancel the event, we will refund fees to those who sign up. Registration is at

Thanks,
Peter Rossato
