Need Help Hey Guys, I have a 1995 318Ti with a E36 engine. My problem is that my car will not start. It will crank but won't turn over. I took the fuel pump out thinking that was the problem, but after testing it realized it is not the problem. I have checked the fuel pump fuse, and relay as well. The problem seems like power isn't being sent to the fuel pump. Any ideas of whats wrong or what to try? Thanks, Chris |
Be sure the intake boot is good and has no holes in it. |
I checked it when I took the fuel pump out and it was fine. I also hooked up the fuel pump to a portable battery charger and it worked fine. |
Have you done any work on this car lately? |
When you tested the relay, did you "jump" it? |
I have not dont any work lately on it, or tried "jumping" the relay. Is there anything between the relay and the fuel pump? |
This thread mentions how to jump the fuel pump relay to see if it is the problem: http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthrea...uel+pump+relay But, fuel pump is just one possibility for your car not starting. |
Just jumped pin 87 to 30 of the fuel pump relay. Can hear the pump running. What's the best way to check for fuel and spark? Pull a plug? Thanks, Chris |
The flywheel sensor. When that goes, then the fuel pump wont start |
|
what if he gets no spark? most likely dme? |
or the flywheel sensor ;) |
hmmm... good point there |
The OP hasn't reported back to this thread in a while and judging by his post count, he's probably not going to be back anytime soon. I do have an inquiry about his statement though. He says that he has a "95 ti with an e36 engine". What does he mean by "e36 engine"? I mean, technically we all do. Is there a chance that he's recently done an engine swap or something and perhaps the EWS system is immobilizing the vehicle? Food for thought. |
flywheel sensor is same as crank pos sensor right? |
