Do a 6 cylinder and transmission swap. It would be well worth it

Cost is variable, best deal you can find is the answer,,, But I would buy a 6 cyl trans, so its ready for the 6 later,,,, :)

it is pretty much work. you need to install a clutch pedal, and run the wires. you need to set up the shifter area, and get the shifter with all its parts.

i am not sure if you can ever really get the clutch installed right, since the wires on the car are different. 5sp cars can not be started without the clutch engaged, so safety wise, it is alittle more dangerous. you (or someone else) could turn the key and start the car while it is in gear, allowing it to drive off. (unless you do your own clutch install with a relay to disable the ignition, but that would be a pain)

by the time you do all that, even if you do it yourself, you would have been better off with buying a 5sp. it is not impossible, but def hard.

it is up to you. i would say look for a cheap 5sp. you can find them all the time. if you are okay with bad motors (which it seems like you are) and can do the swap, why not wait for a blown motor with a 5sp trans to show up for like $800, and do the motor swap to that car.

just an idea.. best of luck

yeah it just better off buying a stick ti swap the engine from the ti i got.

i stripped a 5 speed car, and have every piece that you would need for the conversion.

it can be done easily by an experienced mehanic, or it is possible for someone with less experience by using research online.

anyway, shipping to you by greyhound would probably be in the range of $150.00 for everything, and $400 for ALL the parts.

just a note, neither my '95 ti or '84 E30 came with a clutch safety switch on them, haven't had any accidents yet

My 95 starts without pressing in the clutch as well. So does my jeep and the other 5 manual transmission cars I've owned. ,,,, And yet I'm still here. LOL

The clutch safety switch wasn't installed in the E36 until September 1996. That month and later all had them.

I have an early 96 cause I don't gotta push it in to start lol. I like it
