pic of vibration absorber installed: anyone with prod date 12/1996 or later

could someone with a ti production date 12/1996 or later please take a pic of part #11 ( http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...18&fg=10&hl=22 ) installed on their car and post it? i would greatly appreciate it. i need to figure out if it bolts to anywhere besides the exhaust pipe or not.

thanks in advance!

cal, i'm an idiot. my car was made 10/96 and i read your post as 96 model year.

i do however now know that my cat heat shield is busted, but otherwise things don't look too bad for 150k miles.

cali-ti 09-16-2005 04:54 AM

lol ... no problem. thanks for getting under there and taking a look!

anyone else? bueller? bueller? bueller?

EDIT: c'mon ... SOMEONE with a 97-99 ti has to have 5 spare minutes to get under there and take a pic .... pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaaase!

cali-ti 09-16-2005 11:13 PM

It looks very much like it does bolt just onto the exhaust only.

Hard to get good shots of it under there but here ya go

awesome! thank you VERY MUCH halek! i had purchased one for my 09/1996 ti accidentally (while i was buying other exhaust refresh parts) and i see no reason now why i shouldn't be able to mount it on mine (but of course i had no reference for where or how it mounted on until you posted these pics).

i'm going to try some high temp paint to keep it from rusting out, but i don't hold great hope of that. thanks again!

bringing back an old thread to life...

how exactly does that piece act as a vibration damper?

I've had a bad vibration occur on my car for a long time now.
Whenever I put the car into drive(automatic), the car just vibrates even more. I've done plenty of maintenance on the engine and swapped bushings, both motor and tranny.

I was thinking that maybe this might help? I checked the ETK, and weird thing is that #11 is only listed for manual cars, not autos.

any help would be great.
Thanks.
Ryan

It's not the ICV either if anybody will suggest that.
