Jacking 318ti up on diff I recently bought an E36 318ti Sport and i'm happy with it. But it failed the yearly inspection and I have to fix a few things :( Not too bad though.... hopefully. Replacing a rear drop link and front left outer ball joint. Also got ABS and ASC light but waiting on my scanner to come in the post and hopefully it is just a wheel speed sensor. So I was wondering, can I jack both the rear wheels up at once on the diff? I have gotten a couple different answers pointing to both yes and no so i'm confused. It is a small case diff and has the one mount on the left side (looking from the back of the car) which makes me think it's not a good idea to jack using the diff. Thanks for reading. |
I've been lifting e30's (same rear suspension) that way for almost 20 years w/o issue. Put your jackstands under the hockey pucks, not the subframe. The only tip I can give is use a block of wood between the jack and the diff unless you have one of those fancy jacks with the rubber pad. |
Oh ok nice. Thank you  I'm more confident in doing it now. |
