Philly 08-27-2007 08:07 PM

cut-off time for submitting pics is the end of september?

i ended up 15th or somethin last year with a stock TI photo, gonna have to get my arse in gear and get my car together and try to make 12!

1996 328ti 08-27-2007 09:21 PM

Yep. This way we can vote during October and spend November filling in the details of each photo.

Calendar Question

Are you opposed to photoshopped pics like this??

awww.... dude that pics looks cool. but i think thats like cheating. isnt it? cuz i thought the calendar was aiming at true, natural pictures of the Ti's. Am i wrong?

1996 328ti 09-05-2007 11:52 AM

I have no problem with photoshop.

trickiekid 09-05-2007 12:52 PM

I know this might sound off the wall, but just remember that I am still relatively new to this forum. I have an almost bone stock 318ti. I am a photographer by trade and have pretty good photoshop skills. You want just unadulterated photos of the cars and photoshoped backgraounds, or can we "touch" up the cars too? I am just saying this because I can turn my bone stock 318ti with hubcaps into a DTM styled racer. Just want clarification, sorry if i am thinking too deep into this.

Philly 09-05-2007 04:51 PM

wouldn't the calendar be a tad odd if in june you have a crazy photoshop like above, then switch to july and have a regular pictured TI?
i think it would kind of throw off the theme a little, JMO.

L84THSKY 09-05-2007 05:35 PM

Photoshopping the background is one thing, Photoshopping the car is another:cool:

DustenT 09-05-2007 06:13 PM

We all have to vote on the winners anyways. If you don't like the photos just don't vote on them. Makes sense, right?

StealthBimmer 09-05-2007 07:31 PM

I personally like the true natural pictures for the calendar. Now for photoshop then that should be in its own league/calendar.

That is kind of what I was aluding to. I think that photshop should only be used to do normal touch ups like removing door dings, rock chips, etc.

mohaughn 09-11-2007 05:53 PM

So if it is 1 entry per person is it proper for 1 person to have their friends enter pictures for them? Maybe it should be 1 entry per car.

We'll make it 1 car next year.

ATF 09-24-2007 08:40 PM

A lot of the entries I have seen are mostly frontals or don't have 318ti visible, how important is this? I'm going to do my photoshoot hopefully before the weekend :)

mohaughn 09-24-2007 09:02 PM

If it is a good shot that you think members will vote for there are not really any requirements.. Shots that make it very easy to tell it is a Ti, or show off the hatch will probably be preferred.

It is kind of hurting for 12 good submissions this year...

Philly 09-24-2007 10:16 PM

its gonna be awful lame if more than one of socal "group" photos make it in the calendar... I think those group photos should be reserved for the cover shot only... not the months.

whats gonna happen if 2+ pictures with all the same cars in the pic make it in the calender? Not gonna be much variety.

Rhys 09-24-2007 11:31 PM

What's the cut off time?
Might have another go this weekend as I'm away in the Lake District - some nice scenery there. Will be cutting it fine though.

Still chuffed about being front cover last time, very nice calendars.http://bavarian-board.co.uk/smileys/beerchug.gif

I'm going to be away until Oct 8. So let's say Oct 8. Then I'll delete those who posted twice and open up the voting.

Rhys 09-25-2007 09:36 PM

Smashing, might have another crack at this one then. Got an excuse to try my new digi camera out properly now. http://bavarian-board.co.uk/smileys/beerchug.gif

Philly 09-25-2007 10:23 PM

perfect cutoff, ill have time to get a charger for my cam and better pics!! :D :D :D

Rhys 10-01-2007 08:42 PM

Now then, 2400 x 1800 pixels or higher - is this portrait or landscape format?

Rhys 10-08-2007 12:42 AM

Have entered one in Landscape format. have blanked out the rear number plate (usual security procedure on our forum - a lot of members don't like their registrations shown).

That's about the only photoshopping I've done, except to crop to 2400 x 1800 (guess that will be the size ratio required)Good luck to all who entered.http://bavarian-board.co.uk/smileys/beerchug.gif

1996 328ti 10-09-2007 02:40 AM

Let the voting begin.
Rate each photo from 1 to 10.
The top 12 will be chosen for the 2008 calendar.

No more photo's will be accepted.
Except for jgrimm which I accidentally deleted.

I agree, is there even 12 cars if you eliminate all but 1 of Hugo's? Now I wish I would have just submitted one of my old photos, instead of waiting for a front lip and getting screwed over:rolleyes:

mohaughn 10-09-2007 06:10 AM

Well, to me, I think the spirit and intention of the rule is pretty clear. I have to vote accordingly.

ATF 10-10-2007 12:33 AM

I'm curious how you guys are rating your pictures.

I'm rating less of the car, and more on the thought, clarity (focus) and proportions of the picture.

Same here. Those who actually gave it some thought, I'm giving 8s and 9s.

1996 328ti 10-14-2007 03:15 AM

This voting is so f'kd up this year.
Everyone in SoCal rates the SoCal groups' pictures as 10?
No car is going to be included more than once.

If the other haters would stop giving good pictures one, I think that voting would have gone better. Animosity get us no-where!!! Be fair and rate the pictures accordingly.

ATF 10-14-2007 06:10 AM

Some are also editing their rating on a photo after that user has rated his photo with a lower score. Heck even I'm guilty of it, but at this point I don't really care if my photo makes the calendar anymore. I'd just like to see the shots that deserve a spot, to be granted that opportunity.

+1, i didn't wanna say anything bt i just check out the calender entries and some of the scores are way to high for average looking pictures. It's more like a popularity contest. How bout really giving good scores to the pictures dat do deserve them, cuz even mine is looks lik crap compared to other entries:biggrin:

Rhys 10-14-2007 10:50 AM

If judging is rated by favouritism I'm not bothering next year - that's if what is said is true. Also there should be a lock on voting, once voted you shouldn't be able to change your mind..

Also there was a point on no frontal shots, so I voted accordingly.
Location... again, voted accordingly.
Group shots? Not for me I'm afraid, should be an individual idea interpreted using their car. (one, I won't say which, to me has bad composition and no foreground/background interest - but that's just my personal opinion I'm sure others would disagree)

I might just send a link to an amateur photography forum I frequent, see what they say..

Same here.

Other than rating, there is a voting function. I need to check it our and may do this all over.

1996 328ti 10-14-2007 02:24 PM

This is a simple thing to do, yet a few people choose to make it difficult.

I've removed the ratings. Now pick 1 favorite photo out of all the choices.
http://www.318ti.org/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=806

Hugo, since you have a single shot of your car, only one might be chosen.

Rhys 10-14-2007 03:35 PM

A lot better http://bavarian-board.co.uk/smileys/beerchug.gif

Agreed. A ton better.

1996 328ti 10-14-2007 05:29 PM

Total votes will remain hidden until the end of the month.
I'll use the ratings to break ties or follow my own judgment.

lkwd318ti 10-14-2007 06:47 PM

I'm second to last now :(
