wtb m44......

ok guys need a little help here. I'm going to give you the story so maybe someone out there will feel sorry for me and give me a good price on an engine:tongue:. i bought my 97 ti from a customer who didnt watch the temp gauge!!!! im a mechanic so i bought it off him for a steep price of 1700. stupid me lesson learned on that one. bought a used engine from bavarrian auto recyclers in CA. there went another 1900. so i installed this engine and replaced every single part i deemed old. which was another 1850 at my cost which is alot cheaper than most people can get them. enjoyed the hell out of it and fell in love with the ti and i drive alot of nice cars for work. apparentley i didnt love it enough to not ley my mom borrow it and take it to new mexico. well she blew the head gasket out of it!!!!! im to busy to take the time to rebuild either engine(restoring a 69 mgb). the original one warped the head enough to ruin it and i even bought a used head from a member. the enigne in the car still runs but is blowing antifreeze out of radiator. am i out of luck to find a m44 for under 500 or just let my car sit till i can rebuild one of the two engines i currently have. or someone just tell me im stupid and should just but the tools to remove the head and replace the gasket. looking for some helpful adive from some good ti members.

thanks marv but i already have complete parts list already.... remember i planned on completley rebuilding the orginal engine bottom up. was considering a supercharger. jim that sounds great but my offer to you will be low concidering the shipping costs. and if i knew exactly how much the 6 cylinder upgrade costs i might concider that idea also. Jim shoot me a price

well i'm going to go ahead and fix the engine thats in the car. i can get a complete head set for 140.00 set of ten head bolts for 14.00 the cam lock tools with the crank pin for 75.00 i measured the cylinder head i bought off a member and it measured 149.98mm (tall) and a slight .11mm warpage. the min you can resurface is 149.55mm so i'm in the clear. should take me about 10 hours or so to do it (book time 14). so i think i can hold off on rebuildin mgb motor till later. i'll send the head out tomorrow to be machined and a valve job done should cost me about 160.00 remember i'm a mechanic and those are some of my perks. so its cheaper to just go ahead and do it instead of replacing motor. thanks j!m on your offer and hope you sell it soon. i'll post in lounge when its done and how much the total was so any other do it yourselfers will know what it takes in time and cash.
