Project 325ti The m52 project has been thrown out the window and a new setup has been started. I bought an M50 Non-vanos engine on 9-11-07 and so far have cleaned it up. This week i plan to paint the block, valve cover, replace all hoses, convert the cars wiring harness to OBDI from OBDII for the install to work. Some info on the swap. 4/97 318ti OBDII 4/92 M50 Non-vanos OBDI Reusing stock ti transmission and driveshaft. Stainless steel UUC clutch line will be installed. Rear end has the stock 3.45 Open diff, will be replaced with a 3.46LSD if not 3.3xLSD. Car will be converted from OBDII to OBDI so most emissions will be striped from the vehicle, wiring harness will be cut and rewired properly to accept the M50 and run it properly. Once converted the car will not be able to be take to emissions testing, but our state doesnt do them so its ok for now. Exhaust will be made up of either m50/2 or ebay headers, Y-pipe into a 2.5" Mandrel bent, single piped exhaust all the way back into a NISMO 350z single inlet, dual outlet muffler. Will be purchasing new blank rotors and sourcing the best pads, unsure so far of what brand to purchase. Supension will be stock for now but the shocks and struts will be replaced with those from autozone. Once i get up the funds, ill purchase H&R race springs for the z3 and bilstein or Koni struts/shocks. Wheels will be Mille Miglia MM-2, 17x8 all around for one setup and 17x8 up front and 18x8 in the rear for a staggered setup. Now for pics.... http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o...Picture008.jpg http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o...Picture011.jpg http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o...Picture017.jpg http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o...Picture018.jpg http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o...Picture019.jpg http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o...Picture028.jpg |

Nice! What did you use to clean the engine, looks good on the valve cover? |
I forget the name of the cleaner, but its a spray on foam. The front of the valve cover was painted but realized the paint i have needs primer for it to adhere to the surface. |
It would be Gunk degreaser if i remember |
Cool, thanks. Also, what DME number are you using? 402? 403? |

Did some work today on the ti with dustin and got pretty far. We bolted up the m44 flywheel and clutch assembly to the m50. After that, we rewired the OBDII chassis to work with the OBDI engine. We then ate about 7lbs of chicken, then bolted up the engine. It was about 8 or so and dark when we got all finished with that so we decided it was time to clean up. In the process off cleaning up, an intake manifold that was sitting on a shelf fell on my head leaving me with a nice lump and gash above my eyebrow. It hurt really bad, but it was soon deturred when i walked around to the front of the car to see that m50 shoved in there so beautifully. http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o...a/PICT0040.jpg http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o...a/PICT0041.jpg http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o...a/PICT0042.jpg http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o...a/PICT0043.jpg My Ouchie!!!!! http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o...a/PICT0006.jpg |
