Third Brakelight Replacement? DIY anyone?H Hey everybody, For the 8 years of ownership of this car in my family, the third brakelight has not been working AT ALL... I think it's time to fix it. Has anybody ever done it? If so, how did you guys change it? To be honest with you guys, I haven't looked at the inside of the hatch for a while, so I don't know if the third light is inside the hatch trim or if it's a separate entity. I searched on here and on bimmerforums for into, but I haven't really had much luck. I looked at the Bentley manual too and it doesn't cover our 3 door cars. Preferably, I'f like someone to link me to a DIY if they've seen one. Thanks! -Randy |
it is a separate piece, I'm not sure how to remove it though, how have you been getting it inspected with the 3rd brake light out? |
hmmm, ok then. yea, all the other lights have been working hahah. Looking at realoem, it kinda looks like it's clipped on...but yeah, I just need to get a second look at the real thing. I gotta take this thing apart...lol |
there is a plastic cover over the light fixture, which should pry off. then the light is held in place by two clips that are attached to the window. the cost of a new light is about 180 and takes a while if you do order one. you should check the electrical circuit in the wiring harness to see if you have a good feed to the existing light before trying to replace it. |
