Thule 2047

Thule used to make fit kit 225, which was specifically for our cars. It was discontinued a long time ago, as was the OEM rack. According to an older post, you could make it fit if you bought two separate kits, but I wanted to find a better way. And I did - you use the 2047 kit, which is for Volkswagens.

This kit comes with 3 different kinds of foot pads (2 of each). For the rear, I used the ones with the ridge down the middle.

I used the thickest foot pads for the front. If I had something to shim it up even higher, it might have fit better, but I made it work. Peel back the rubber over the door, and you'll see two short studs. I think the OEM rack hooked on to both of them, but here I'm only using one.

son of a b!tch.

i just bought a set of factory roof racks a month ago, have it installed, but now do NOT know if the factory bike holder is wide enough for mtn. bike forks. And thats where i am stuck at not, not knowing if i can get somthing to work or if i have to sell it.

On the front foot, where you are only using one, why just one?

And as much as its going to hurt me, how much did you pick that kit up for?

Why wouldn't it work? Front bike axles are all the same size, unless you have through-axles (kind of rare) or some mutant bike like the Surly Pugsley (even rarer). If you're not sure, just measure it.

Take a look at the photo with my hand in it, you'll see what I mean.

$75 shipped, from Tree Fort Bikes. I got the rack used a couple years ago for $50.
