Spring Rates I'm looking at getting new suspension for the ti, as it's got over 200k on stock suspension... Any recommended spring rates? I drive mountain roads everyday so would like something fairly stiff for spirited driving, but also it's a daily driver not a track car. I'm looking into the BC Racing coilover set up and just want to make sure I get the correct spring rate for some good fun and all around driving |
Anybody? |
Or how about the same spring rates as a 91 318is? I've also heard about running different rates in the front than the rear, so would that be the same with the IS? |
Id say go with like 300lbs in the rear and 450lbs in the front or something along those lines. |
I'm not that educated on suspension though. Don't go buying anything. I just know rear should be less than the front. |

Figured I'd try to point you in some sort of direction! |
Thanks man, appreciate it! Anybody else have some spring rates they like for a stock 318ti? |
Nothin from anyone else? |
Go to h&r website and read about spring rates. And maybe it will answer your questions Sent from S4 on tap talk |
H&R doesn't publish spring rates and you don't want what they recommend anyway. I currently run 400f/600r and I like it for daily/autox/track. It's probably a bit on the stiff side for just a daily driver. However, spring rates are really personal preference to the way you want the car to handle. Just pick something to get started and then pick up used springs and swap them out to test. |

I have been working with Ground Control on a full coilover setup and they are recommending 500 ft, 700 rear, rears will differ from regular springs since a coilover. I am setting the car up for site seeing, grocery getting, HPDE, TT and hauling our 230 lbs of dogs in the back seat......some compromise had to be reached. |

Anybody know if the spring rate should change when you change spring manufacturers? |
