Adjustable rear control arms
 
I don't know if enyone posted this yet, i was searching on google and came across this thread on S14.net. i found it very interesting to see what people have come up with in way of making an adjustable rear control arm. i myself have thought fabing some up in the machine shop at my job, but i never have the time. maybe one day.....

Be easier to just slot the rear. The sell a kit for E30's already, it's widely available and others have made it at home.

i know it would be easier to weld on camber/toe kit route. i just like all the innovative ideas people have come up with.

WOW! those ones on s14.net are massive! totally overkill for my application, but still very interesting.

last night i was playing around with some ideas on a drawing program (i suck at cad) it would use two spherical rod ends that attach to the subframe itself, which would retain the use to the oem, or poly bushings and allow camber and toe adjustments. not sure how it would work out, but i have another subframe to play with. when i have some time this summer, im going to try it out. it would be super simple

I never liked the idea of the slotted adjusters. You are introducing more bind and extra load on the tabs. I like the monoballs used on the group A style arms on the inside, and the adjust-ability of the rod ends on the outside mount. Not great for street use at all, but great for track time.

But that's why I have just shimmed the back end (springs spacers) of mine to get it closer to the stock height and specs. And boy does it work well. Cheap too.


John, two rod ends per mounting point? Could just use slotted brackets instead. Where a U shaped bracket bolts to the stock arm, and then can move it around. Using 8 rod ends gets pricey when you need to replace them.

getting the tie rod ends is not a problem, since they will be free. one of the maintenance men at my job is a good friend of mine and will give me anything i need. if not, he said he will order it for me.

its going to be a while till i get to try it. work has exploded and i'll be working 6 days a week till august-september.

The Pro-3 racers have several sources for pre-welded cross members that are adjustable and ready for install. Corrects the alignment and easy upgrade cost is < 300 with exchange cross member...
