question i cant find an answer to so can i remove everything off the car in one piece? unbolt the rad support and bumper, unbolt the shock towers and subframe bolts, disconnect driveshaft, associated wires and hoses and wheel the whole thing out on its own front wheels? i feel like ive seen this, but i cant seem to find it now. Thanks! |
But wait, there's more! Haha , why would you want to do this? Will you be putting Humpty back together again? |
Do you have a lift? If not then I doubt it you could do it in reverse. The installation is the hard part lowering car back on to the front sub assembly. |
yeah, it is essentially this, someone is selling a rebuilt title m3 (1995) and i was thinking to just swap front ends as i live in seattle and the m3 is super cheap and has a good powertrain. if it could all just be moved around say in a a weekend with no lift or hoist or long term storage, i would pull the trigger. |
I have already removed on an e36, front bumper cover, then front bumper, rad and a/c cooler , till you're right at the engine, and there's still the car frame with bumper shock absorbers . I didn't remove the engine, but it helped me understand how it's made and easy to scavenge what I wanted. you would probably have to lift front end of the car above the engine and such to just roll it out. dont forget the steering components also. try to get the steering rack, it might be a special model with a better ratio. you would have to cut the front end of the frame to not have to lift it over the goods . good luck |
Since you drop the suspension don't forget the brake lines and abs electrics. The 3 water lines on the firewall the clutch line the reverse light and all other electricals to include the two ground straps. |
awesome, thank you so much everyone! |
