Group Calendar: Forum Default vs Google Calendar ok, so working with steven, we can now compare the default forum calendar and a google calendar for our group and see which way we want to go. Forum Default: http://www.318ti.org/forum/calendar....r=2008&do=&c=4 Pluses: -Hooked right into the Forum, no outside requirements -Works with the Event RSVP thread tools Minuses -Have to manually sync to your own calendar if you have one (eg: i use google calendar and would need to create the events manually there) -No automatic mapping functions (we could do this manually though) Google Calendar: http://www.318ti.org/index.php?page=mhti Pluses: -if you use something like google calendar, you can add the whole calendar to yours and see all the events, nothing else to do! you could also add individual events. -with additional tools, you can sync to your cell phone -uses google maps to provide a map for the event Minuses -Not integral with forum software so it doesn't work directly with the RSVP event thread tools -Need to add events outside the forum so what do you prefer? |
I picked forum default just to make it simple and not have to do it outside the forum to add an event. Thank you Stabby!!! |
Voted for Google. While I like having the Event and RSVP functionality that works with the forum calendar, I think the Google one will simply be more portable. Adding the items to your own Google Calendar (if you use it), ability to sync with Outlook and such. Heck, I don't know much about programming, but is it possible to make some sort of plugin for the Google Calendar to make it work with the Event/RSVP functionality? Justin |
i don't think it would be worth trying to hook it into the forum's rsvp event tools. it seems we use threads to figure out what days are good for people and then end up with an "event." |
i voted google for sync pluses |
i like the google calender... but, i vote for the site calender for convenience sake. i guess either will work....i'll adapt. |
I voted for the google one, just seems easier to read and work with, of course, I'll prolly never use it so it really doesn't matter too much for me |
its a tie they are going neck and neck at corner 3.... the question is WHO.... WILL.... WINNNNNNNN??? |
I broke the tie. haha But yea i think it would be easier to look at the forum calender. I only use google as a search engine so it really doesn't help me out. As for a map for driving directions we always have sean leading us so its cool. |
i trust my garmin! |
damn libran indecision ... i still don't know which one i prefer :( |
i don't really use it to tell you the truth so whatever works for me |
Since I'm not part of this region I'm not going to vote. But what does the RSVP software do? Just send you a reminder to your email? |
you can go ahead and vote, others outside our region have :) the RSVP is really part of the forum event tools. if you take a look at this event, you'll see the RSVP stuff at the top: http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=21560 the tools for the built-in forum calendar include the ability to send an email reminder. |
