Diamond Racing Steelies

Hey guys. I'm about to get some custom spec'ed Steelies. I just don't know what offset, width and back space I need/want. I'm looking to do a 17, maybe a 16. But I'm going for the flush look (these are gonna be daily wheels) what kind of back spacing would I need to clear everything? I was think 16x9 or 17x9 with a 10 offset. And a 215 or 205 tire. They also say they are lug centric wheels? Idk. And that the hub should be able to take the torque? A lil help would be nice! Thanks guys

BMW's use HUB centric not lug centric and it does matter unless you want vibration and better yet to lose a wheel. (there are kits to put in suds but hub centric is way way tougher. ) Some folks use hub rings to make the wheels tighter. I had a Honda civic that hte tire shop convinced me to try the rings, I had numerous problems with the rings being left off when the tires were rotated, put on crooked so the wheels came loos on and on.

Good Luck

thanks dave, i was just makin sure. i knew id have to run studs. which arent a bad thing right? haha. i always hear different things, how hub centric is better and i hear the studs are better. i can never get a straight answer! i feel like studs are easier

Studs are great in the pits. LOL :) The biggest issue is that a lug centric hub is designed differently than a hub centric hub, look at a bunch in a wrecking yard. The hub centrics tend to be beefy close to the center, lug centrics are heavier all the way out past the lugs. Hub centric hubs tend to be lighter because you need less meat to hold the bolts or studs.
(Not major but a bit, I weighed a few at one point looking for an edge on a race car. )

I'd do hub centric studs or not. Just me, I've broke the studs off twice racing and its a E-ticket ride...
