Convert Sunroof to Manual Crank?

Has anyone tried converting the sunroof from power to manual? Mine's all thrashed and I'm looking to somehow make it manual :)
Maybe use an old crank & guts from an '80's model???

The motor is bad or the mechanism (track) is bad? If it's the motor, those can be had for relatively cheap used. If it's the mechanism, I think all E36 sunroofs are the same so again, there's plenty of them out there. It probably wouldn't be overly difficult to convert to a crank but since these parts are rather abundant, it might not even be worth it to try.

Good Call - Mine works when it feels like it :) usually with a little bashing it wakes up. I do have to take it apart anyway - part of it (a secondary panel?) came off track and is sitting in the roof somewhere... it only opens about 8 inches now.
