Smoked Tail Lights Hey everyone, I was wondering where I could get smoked tail light film or the spray. Any Recommendations between the two would be great too. Any Help is awesome! Thanks |
I used VHT Niteshades spray tint. Worked well, and cheaper than the film. If you can't find it locally, you can order it online or on fleabay... http://www.google.com/products?oe=UT...HT+nite+shades Tinting Film... http://www.lamin-x.com/ |
model tint spray from your local hobby store or hobbylobby or any rc car or plane hobby store. its used to tint windows on model cars and holds up nice if good clear is added on top. |
I found the model car tint fades over time.. I used it and by the end of the summer, it was not much darker than stock. I use film on my car.. just need to get the hairdryer out to make it fit perfect |
Check out the thread I just posted, there's a couple shots of my TI with the tails tinted. VHT nightshades, 6 coats IIRC, no clear or anything. I don't like the shiny look, I'm more of a matte person. |
i'll make it easy for you: http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/8...resized.th.jpg http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/9...resized.th.jpg |
thanks sooo much! im not a shiny person myself and when i see clears i think of altezzas! :omfg: and thats just not happening and Budget i love your cars lights |
when they say "clears" they're not talking about the completely white taillights, they're talking about taillights that look the same as stock except the amber turn signal is white, just to clarify  |
yeah i know and i was actually thinking of the corners too. and sorry hindu i wasn't paying attention to the 1st post and thought this was my thread with my post before this:biggrin: |

Also, I read in one write-up to slightly dust the lights with black spraypaint or else the amber lights would look pink b/c the nightshades has a red tint to it. Don't do this, it just makes the lights look like S*** when they're on. I'll eventually get an example of this with my fogs on. Looks stupid, they're getting redone next time I'm home. |
http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/l...j/IMG_3736.jpg this is what my corners looked like at dusk, while they looked black during the day... As you can see if you look close, the passenger side didn't turn out as nice as the drivers side... I rushed that one. like budget said, no need to pre-spray with black paint... |
I'll have to get a shot of my corners at night also. I used the ugly clears (same ones maverix had, that have been passed from person to person) to tint vs the stock ambers. This makes it so that my lights still light up amber because I put an amber bulb in place of the white, but there's still black around the light. Very different look that Wolfs. And for a third time: don't do the spray paint prior. Bad idea/suggestion by whoever I read that from. |
budget... you said u put on six coats but the can says do three or the light may not come through.. what do u think i should do? |
Taken from Al's pics from our NJ minimeet. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/IMG_1578.jpg Just the turnsignals.. done with film. I would never tint the brake lights or the headlights. Vanity is not worth the loss of safety |
I say do it until you're happy with the outcome. IMO I can see fine with 6, but I wanted them dark. 3 was definetely tinted, but not quite enough for me. It's really all up to the look you're going for. And FWIW, I will be doing the "extra brake light" mod next time I have the sub box out. I'm going to toss a brighter bulb in there just because of the idiots that drive by brake lights, and I know they're not as bright as others, expecially the new LED ones. Mad, I would not have done the headlights/kept them on had it been dangerous. Sure you do lose some light, but I didn't go THAT dark that it's close to dangerous. Then again, I drive on 99% lit roads, so that helps:wink: |
