parking distance sensors

does any one have these on the ti
and if not has any one fitted them from one that had them

i wonderd if it was a plug and play system if all the wires are there and you can just plug the rest of the parts in and it will work

The 318ti is not pre-wired for that option. "Cali-ti" is planning on installing it. Is that Ipswich England? I was reassigned from Germany to England years ago, and took my Scirocco on the ferry from Zeebrugge Belgium to Ipswich England.

I have them and it just connected to the rear wiring harness.
It's energized when the reverse lights are on.
But you do need to drill holes in the bumpers.

superb thank you so u just put the sensors onto the rear harness or did u have to biy some other bits

a HOW TO would be great :)

You need to drill 4 holes in the rear bumber for the sensors.
I did not do the install.

Doesn't there have to be some wiring from the bumper to the dash? How can tapping into the rear lights alone make this work?

i've had them on both my 95 & 97
but weirdly they're a different system on each

both are factory fitted

on the '95 i replaced the whole control unit (behind the back right carpet in the boot) - which had the speaker mounted on top.

My '97 has the control unit in the rear but the speaker is under the dash board.

On mine the speaker is in the back. When you go in reverse it energizes the circuit.

I'd be interested to see a write up & pictures. Parallel Parking in Boston is always a challenge, maybe I'll add PDC to the list of things to dream about.
