1998 318ti M44 Engine Issue (Fault Codes in post)
 

Hi All, I hope this is the right place to post but I am trying to diagnose my engine issue. I picked up the car a few years back and it ran fine. I bought the car to track/autocross it and wanted a wee bit more power so I purchased the supercharger kit from hyde motorworks. Halfway through the installation, I decided to return the engine to stock but couldn't get the car running right. The cars idle would either pulse up and down and/or idle at 3000rpms.

Once when diagnosing the issue I had started the car and went to look at the engine bay when suddenly the idle spiked to redline. I ran back into the car and shut it off but wasn't sure if any damage was done. Whenever the car started after that there was a terrible smell from the exhaust but the same idle symptoms persisted. I tried installing a new intake manifold with different sensors but again the same symptoms persisted. The last time the car was started it ran rough for a couple minutes and then stalled and never turned over again.

This car is a 1998 and has an OBDII port under the dash but nothing reads from my Foxwell tool. There is however an OBDI port under the hood that does read codes and "6C" DME DMS Digital Motor Electronic Fault code and a "100" Throttle-valve actuator electrically faulty code returned from the scan. Any help would be appreciated in getting this awesome car back on the road.
