Busy Busy Busy

After a long and rigorous interviewing process, I started a new job back in January. Pay and benefits are really good. Located about 2 blocks from my house, takes less than 30 seconds to get to work. The goal, save 100k in two years, purchase new home in 4-5 years.

Nice! Congrats! House in the Ventura/Santa Barbara area?

Congratulations on your new job. Good to hear from you. John

Thanks guys! Definitely nice to have a steady job again. Been watching the housing market closely for the past year or so. Probably going to try to stay in or near Ventura for work. I am eligible for the VA loan, so if the market starts to rise, I may buy a couple years early. The savings goal is more of a safety net since I have a history of making poor life decisions and will likely remain single for life, lol.

Good to hear that you be always be able to prioritize your car hobby without question!

Congrats on the new gig, Jess- I fear that I'm just about to fall into the opposite situation, so I'm going to need to dial back some of my car plans for the foreseeable future. :(

Notice Jesse made no mention about finishing his swap project (that is now 4 years in process :icon_poke ), so I dunno about that priority... I would offer to take the entire project off your hands, but I have discovered my next project which I plan to attack this summer.... Details will follow soon..

Anyway, Jesse, I (and no one else) have neglected to ask, what career path are you taking? I know the art project was one of your desired paths, but it doesn't sound like that is where you are headed for the short term. Hopefully, that doesn't get pushed too far away while you achieve your current goals.

cooljess76 03-13-2013 05:24 AM

Hehehe, the car project will be back in motion soon. The fountain business is still a doable venture, especially since this job gives me 3 days off each week. I'll PM you with more details about the job, but I'm simply working as a maintenance technician on some pretty sophisticated machinery. The job was right up my alley though. I get to use my welding, machining, wrenching and electrical skills.

I need to go back to the golf industry. This job I have is a total waste of my time. At least at the golf course I would have a mixed bag of tasks that test my technical skills. I envy your current career Jesse...it sounds perfect.
