Pike's Peak pics Thought I'd share these with everyone. I drove up Pike's Peak today in a crappy '06 Outback rental car. First gear pinned the whole time! Man, that thing is a pig. If you haven't been to Pike's Peak, you need to check it out. The view is incredible, a sign says 1" on the horizon equals 38 miles, so I could literally see for thousands of miles from the peak (14,100 feet about sea level). http://180customs.net/v-web/gallery/Pikes-Peak - There is a "slideshow" link in the upper right corner of the album. Click that and the pics will change automagically. I'm going to try to make it back out to Colorado for the Pike's Peak hill climb on July 1st, it looks INSANE! You can actually see tire marks on the tarmack sections up the hill from the soft rally rubber. Unfortunately that damn Outback could barely spin the tires on gravel, so no sideways driving for me! :( |
awsome pics!! really cool! (made me forget where I am for a moment) |
excellent! hey, bring your mountain bikes out in july when you come and we'll ride up pike's peak! i think i saw your place back in WI in one of the pics! i'm sure the pictures don't do the view justice, they never do, but still very cool. swanky pics of the outback too ;) |

ok ok ... we can do lookout mountain (around 7 miles up) or maybe mount evans (haven't done that one yet, but it's very popular, lots of bikers on that road), both of which are paved so you could do road bikes as well. |

cool view...looks awesome. you are my hero. the end. |
Nice pictures! Thats an awesome view. Have you ever checked out Fish Creek Falls in Steamboat Springs CO? I loved hiking there. I am surprised and disapointed at the lack of snowpack at that elevation in CO. |

I haven't been to Steamboat Springs, but I hear it's a pretty cool place too. |

Pike's I was in Colorado a number of years ago in late July, it was spectacular. The roads going up some of the trails are downright scary. We rented a Ford Explorer, so there was no playing around on the paths. Spectacular trip. It snowed the night before I went up Mt. Elbert (the highest point in Colorado). Great pics :) |
Nice pics. Amazing view... this really is a beautiful country. Went to Co. two years ago and was simply amazed at the view from those mountains... nothing like the appalachians, lol. |
