S52 swap question
 

Hello and thanks for the add!!! I started a swap on my 98 Ti, I am mechanically inclined and the engine is already in, but I ran into a small dilema and maybe can help. I've read that I can use the driveshaft out of the m3 for it but once installed I noticed that there is way too much spline showing on it, is this normal? and also, my m3 donor is manual and has a 3 round plug harness, my ti has 2, does anyone know what the 3rd middle plug with 4 wires is for?Attachment 16376

That one is used for the auto transmission. I am also in the middle of an s52 swap and started out as an auto so I have that one in my car. I don't know if those pins are used for cruise control or something else as I have not studied those pins per se yet. I know that the x20 connector does need some pin modification. Have you done that yet and if so what pins did you change?

It's not abnormal to have splice showing, the stock ti driveshaft probably had 1.5" of spline showing on mine before my swap. How much spline is not showing on yours?

Middle plug, known as the X69 connector, from the donor is all ASC wiring as far as im aware. I left the middle plug hanging there, my car runs great. I don't have ASC and don't plan to ever try and enable it though.
