Engine and tranny Mounts

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this forum but I just purchased my first 318ti and I'm just loving it and love the feeling of it especially in turns, grips petty awesome and such a nimble small car.. Plus what I've heard from you guys so far that it is reliable and fun to drive which is always good!

I need to replace my Engine mounts and transmission mounts as I feel a little bit of knock when shifting and it seems the whole engine and tranny moves a little bit so sometimes the shifting is not the smoothest. I was looking either to buy the normal stock OEM ones or Polyurethane ones, searching this forum found that the polyurethane ones should be better than the OEM, the question is anyone have any idea where to buy them from and how much they should cost ?? I'm in Vancouver, Canada. So any advices ?? Should I go OEM or Poly-Urethane ?

Welcome!

My vote is OEM. Absorbs vibrations better than poly and still allow the motor to flex per se. Bimmerbum sells them(has an online store), he's a member here...also Ecs Tuning, Pelican parts, Getbmwparts, Tischer and the list goes on and on. If you decide poly you can look at AKG motorsports, Bimmerworld, Turner motorsports, etc. There are plenty of places for either type.

I also vote for OEM, just did both about a month ago and was very pleased. Tranny mounts were very easy but the engine mounts were a total PITA. When you get to actually doing them theres a couple really good DIY's on here that will help you through. Good luck and welcome!!!

There's really no need to go polyurethane with the motor or trans. mounts unless your car is going to see more track time than street time.

Welcome to the forum!

I actually just did a motor mount on my new to me 98 TI with 196,XXX. Just went with aftermarket oe style and it works fantastic! :) On the racks we have at work it was a breeze! :D
