1.5 drop!!!

will a 1.5 drop be ok all round? its already 1.5 drop on the back. only thing i was worried about is it has 17inch wheels with 45 profile tyres on! it does rub very slightly when its on full lock!

any info is appreaciated before i go buy the springs!!

where does it rub now? can you predict what a 1.5" drop would do to that rubbing (where would it shift it to and would it make it worse)?

how are your roads there? driveway entrances? you'll have to be more careful, usually taking more entrances at an angle. you may also not be able to get an oil drain pan under there without raising the vehicle any more. i even had to fashion extensions to the extensions for my ramps to be able to get up on them (lower bumper cover would hit and push the ramps even with the extensions i bought for lowered cars). wish i'd gotten adjustables!

What are the width of the tires that are rubbing now?

GDB 05-18-2005 05:35 PM

How wide of tires are you running? I have 235/40-18s all the way around and I have no rubbing issues.

With a 1.5" drop you shouldnt be rubbing on 17's unless they are very wide or you are running a very low offset. I'm running 18x8's w/41 offset and a 2.5" drop and i've still got room to spare. Look into rolling your fenders to fix the problem.

Mine is 2.2 front and 1.3 rear and i doesn't rub. But the rear is slightly tucked the front is not.

tyres are 205/45/17's. It not proper grating or anything, u can just hear a slight rub when its right on full lock. Havent a clue what the ofset is- just factory because iv never touched it. whatever that might be.

What drop was yours when front bumber hits your ramps? Anyone else have this problem? i.e. in multistory carparks with bumbers hitting floors?

cali-ti 05-19-2005 11:58 AM

i'm not sure what the drop is (used bavauto springs). the ramps i'm referring to are ramps i use to raise the front of my car for getting under there to work on it. any driveway entrances with sizeable dips certainly need to be angled too, just a matter of having less clearance than you used to. you get used to it :p

I just installed 235/45/17 and I have no rubbing in either full turning radius or when hitting bumps.

See the tires in the pic below.

I'm about to install 225/40/18's all around on my 95' TI.
Once the new shoes are in place. I want to see about lowering it 1.5-2.0".

Does anyone see any potnetial issues with that combination?

Thanks!

As long is the offset is 35 or greater, you will be fine.

Stomp 06-10-2005 03:17 PM

I believe the offset is 40mm. Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it!
