Shift Knob Ok, this is a dumb question, but has anyone else had their shifter knob come off in hand? Mine appears to have fatigued and cracked at the base, now it just slides on and off which slows down the shift to 3rd! 1st to 2nd, keep eyes on road fumble for and replace knob - shift to 3rd, shift to 4th, replace knob.. etc. This one at BAVAUTO looks like a nice replacement... http://bavauto.com/assets/product_im...le/gscfch2.jpg Anyone have any better ideas? |
That seems to be pretty common. |
ahahah yeah that happened in my car when i was test driving it.. they replaced it with a plastic bmw one and it works fine now |
Mine busted, too. I got a new OEM piece from Jimmy540i.com for $25. ---Chris |
ugh. i'm not a big fan of that guy. i much prefer the wood knobs (get your head out of the gutter, kid) since they feel more direct. don't really heat up in the summer either. i just sand, rattle-can the sucker black, then wet sand--purdy. usually can snag them off ebay for under $10. |
lol ... too funny since i'd resurrected another thread on this subject earlier today! post #10 is where i post a link to the bmw short/weighted knob i just ordered: http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthrea...6&page=1&pp=10 |
Mine had that same problem and I just got a new shift knob from BavAuto. |
I agree cali-ti, the short and weighted knobs are much better. They have a great feel, almost like a small, cheap, SSK. The knob for the 330 zhp, is really nice. I suggest that one. |
