1998 328ti 5spd

CAR IS SOLD

It's come time to sell my ti, it's been a fantastic car since I bought it in 2008 and this site has been an invaluable resource.

I bought the car in 2008 with 137,000 miles on it. Have driven it since then and have tons of maintenance records for everything I've done. The engine swap happened in 2016 using a M52B28 from an E36 328i, my build thread was documented on here.

Swap build thread link: http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=42351

In the past few years I've had other cars to daily so I've driven the ti mostly just to autocrosses, track days, and other random trips. The car is set up to be track/autox focused but still able to daily. It is a stiff ride but handles like a big go-kart and with the cams/M50 manifold pulls very hard up to 7000rpm. As I've driven it over the years, I've found the car to be very easy on consumables (tires/pads/bushings) most of the work I've done is just for preventative maintenance. I never had any failures or incidents on track and the car has never been in an accident on the street.

I can send the maintenance record file if you're interested.

Looking to get $6,300. CAR IS SOLD

Nooo! Don't do it. I loved watching the adventure's of this Ti.

Seems worthy of a Bring A Trailer listing...

spidertri 01-06-2020 04:57 PM

Thanks guys, I appreciate the sentiment. I'm not in any rush to sell the ti but priorities change and I wanted to, at least, list it and see if there was any interest. It's been an awesome car and is running awesome with the rebuilt head/cams/manifold.

Bump, tried to make the FS post more readable and included a bunch of things I forgot.

Any ideas on the costs/equipment needed to restore A/C to this car? As a first ti owner, I have no reference for this. I would appreciate any info you might have. thanks

spidertri 01-16-2020 02:21 PM

You could add it back, the firewall fitting and evaporator in the dash is still all there.

You'd need the M52/S52 AC compressor and bracket to mount it to the engine block and the AC hoses. I'd try to find that stuff from ebay or a 328 part out. Then I would probably buy a new condenser and new dryer since they are more likely to be beat up as used parts.

Used driers, in particular, should not be used unless you have proper facilities to dry them out again. Go new on that for sure.

Very interested!

I was the lucky buyer. The seller has been a pleasure to work with. He was kind and generous with his incredible knowledge. I’m looking forward to driving and working on the car.
