1996 318ti emmisions test problem

I took 96 ti in for inspection and failed because catalyst monitor not ready, evap. system not ready,o2 sensor not ready, and o2 heater not ready.Ihave driven for long enough for either the light to come back on or for it to be ready. Any ideas??? One note I did read on tread on this site with the same problem back in 2007 but there was no solution it just ended thanks in advance ,kevin

It sounds to me that you had a check engine light that you cleared just before you took the car in for the inspection.
Normally OBDII systems need to complete various cycles before they can be taken to an inpection station.Do long have you driven the car without the CEL on? What was the codes that were pulled before the light was reset? Your car may need to be repaired;you'll need to figure out what components are bad and replace them.

Bring the car by today and I'll take a look at it.

Sounds the same to me as well.

Often 20 miles and 3 start cycles will allow the DME to perform all the tests; however I have seen it go as far as 55 miles personally...

Dan I sent you an email because I had trouble posting. Basicly it said that the code that trigged the light was a rear O2 senser that has been replaced. However since last night I read another post on another site about a honda that had a similiar problem it turned out to be a battery. the theory is that the battery was good enough to start the car however it was weak and the computer resets every time the car sits. So i bought a battery (old one was 5 years old) and am now driving and hopeing that will be the fix. thanks again and if you still would like to help if this isn't it please email me your address@ kl4farm@aol.com
