Manual to Automatic Harness Problem I got a 95 318ti with a blown engine. My car is a manual and the engine I got from the salvage yard came out of an automatic. both engines are E36 4cyl. When I got the engine mounted I notice the wiring harness was different from my manual harness. I wired as many wires as I could hoping that it would work but my theory was wrong  The car doesn't want to start I know its the wiring, but I just dont know what to do from here. Do I have to buy a different harness for my car because of the engine coming out of an automatic? I NEED help. Has anyone done such a swap and how did you solve this. |
Why can't you use the original harness? I hope you installed a pilot bearing too. |

Hope that helps. |
If you have the original harness use that one. It's probably a park/neutral switch thing. Does it crank, or just do nothing at all? There are plenty of manuals online if you search around, you can get the BMW factory electrical troubleshooting manual. |
