Violent banging noise (vibrations) while accelerating

Hello everyone,

I am having an issue on my 323ti. When accelerating (especially in the lower rpm range; where the car is torquier) I can feel some violent vibrations and lound thumping noise, like something is hitting the driveshaft tunnel. It gets louder if there is more weight in the car (like passengers or cargo). Upon visual inspection, the guibo (flex disc) looks okay (no major damage or cracks). Is there anything else that could be in bad condition except the guibo, driveshaft centre mount (bearing) or an axle?

Thanks in advance!

It is most likely the center carrier bearing. I've had that fail more than once, and it is loud, and feels like someone is hitting the bottom of your seat with a hammer! While you're in there, even if the flex disc looks good, change it, check the U-joints as well. Good Luck!

Joe
