318is dials into 318ti

Anyone done this? I assume plug and play, will the mpg gauge work though?

Will it work?: Yes.

Is it PnP?: Yes.

Will the MPG (vacuum) gauge work?: No.

Just like you said, it's in, it does stuff however it doesn't read mpg. That's fine by me though, I only wanted it to fill that horrible void in the bottom of the tach [emoji23]

The gauge is electronically driven. From looking at the wiring diagrams, I would think it might be made to work by adding the missing fuel-injection-time wire from the DME to the non-compact instrument cluster.

That's something worth looking into at a later date, I'd like to upgrade my trip computer at some point so a fitting time really...

Thanks

Indeed, as the OBC also needs that missing wire.

Can you still get the wiring harness for the OBC retrofit kit?

I believe so, I'm sure I'll come across a donor at some point to salvage bits off.

Either that or go the full hog and swap in a Saloon/Touring dash/doorcards

Once the cluster is installed, the vacuum (MPG) gauge should fall to zero at a stop, and get completely buried on the other side at any acceleration or speed.

Like John said, it is possible to make the gauge functional for the ti, it just seemed like more hassle than it was worth to me.

Good luck!

Well, assume I would like to make it work. Where Should I start and most importantly what should I change to make it work?
