I need an M44 Engine

Do any of you guys that did an Engine conversion have a used M44 engine for sale. I have about 155,000 miles on my engine and one of my spark plug slots is stripped and I used a type of rethreading kit and it runs great but would like to install a lower mileage M44 engine. Im not sure how long the spark plug fix will last. My last resort will be to buy the M44 upgrade engine from Bavarian Engine Exchange. But I don't have the $4500.00 to spend on the upgrade engine.

i have a EuroSpec engine with 149k.

it's strong though, and i was using it strong til the car spun out in the rain.

You have a eurospec M44 1.9L 16v engine? Would that require any extra mods or would it be plug and play? How much are you looking to sell the engine for?

Check this one on ebay:

Whats the difference between the US and EuroSpec m44 engine?

Panzer_M 05-17-2005 05:03 PM

140hp vs 138(US) is the only differance i found on paper.

Ti vs Ti, my Base model EuroTi was faster than a 96 Base, but i was lighter by a bit.

The M44 engines in U.S. and European cars have the same peak power rating of 103 kW at 6000 rpm. That translates to 140 or 138 hp, in DIN hp and SAE hp, respectively.

The main difference I know about is that U.S. M44 engines have OBD-II whereas European ones do not. I get to explain this to the TÜV and DEKRA every couple years when they try to hook up my car to their emissions tester.

why not just swap the valve cover? that is where the threads for the spark plugs are located...I have a 95 M42 if you are interested and I can let you hear it run.
